Friday’s Web And Spider
Friday’s Web is a series of photographs taken from a performance I did called Spider. In it I weave a giant cobweb around my home by continuously unwinding a spool of thread while I tidy the house to create something beautiful, fragile and temporary from a necessary but mundane routine. The more I tidy the more complicated the network of threads becomes, and as time goes by navigating the space becomes more challenging and I become more trapped. In Spider I wanted to chronicle the repetitive tasks unconsciously performed, mapping and recording these unseen routes taken in our everyday lives and the accompanying series of atmospheric photographs - Friday’s Web document these vectors, taut threads, metaphors, confinements and restrictions.
